Canillo Festa Major Programme Released Ahead of July 17 Start
Organisers in Canillo have detailed an extensive four-day programme for the parish's annual festa major, set to take place from Friday 17 July to Monday 20 July, with a headline concert by Catalan band Sexenni among the main attractions.
The event begins on Friday evening with the Popular Trial, a padel tournament and opening fireworks. This is followed by a nostalgic dinner themed around the 1980s and 1990s, live music from xaranga group Los Metralletas, covers band La Quinta, and the Andorra Remember party featuring DJs Marki&Vega, Naiara HL, Ruben XXL & D-VSTOR in a 360° booth, and XaviBCN.
Saturday offers a diverse lineup, including the third Canillo BICI Tour, an exhibition of watercolours by local artist Mari Carmen Naudi Casal, inflatables for children, family yoga sessions, a botifarra sausage competition and a Holi-style foam party. Afternoon and evening entertainment includes the Komboloco tardeo, xaranga Mai Toquem B, a performance by Serko, the Miss and Mister contest, covers from Hay Pachucos, and a set by El Dirty from Razzmatazz club.
Sunday starts with a mass at Sant Serni church and a parade accompanied by Canillo Band Tocant. Further activities encompass petanque and padel tournaments, children's entertainment, family-oriented events, the football-inspired Canillo Pong, a communal hamburguesa lunch, and an evening dance with Mediterranea. The night builds to Sexenni's 1:30am concert, with additional covers from Aguateke.
The festival concludes on Monday with a trout cooking competition, Pump Track Crono race, traditional sports for men and women, a daytime dance led by Trio Premium, and a closing night featuring the Saturno orchestra, Band the Rock, and a discomòbil set with DJs Kim and Mike Towers.
Meanwhile, in the neighbouring parish of La Massana, the eighth Serenalla Market opened on Wednesday afternoon at Parc del Prat Gran to strong public turnout. Cònsol major Eva Sansa presided over the inauguration, joined by communal and national authorities. She described the event as Andorra's established summer festival, blending leisure, culture, gastronomy and wellbeing to promote community ties under this year's "Som Mirall" theme focused on empathy and human connections.
The opening day drew large crowds to stalls and activities, including a successful family scientific workshop in the Feda-sponsored Àgora space led by Professor Carlos Moreno, featuring experiments on energy and liquid nitrogen. Over the four days ending Saturday 19 July, Àgora will host eight expert sessions on science, health, culture, emotional wellbeing and relationships.
Sansa thanked Andorra Turisme for elevating the festival to a national scale, along with sponsors like Morabanc for the new Espai Tast, which launched with a sold-out wine-tasting painting workshop for adults. Further culinary sessions include honey-chocolate pairings and a cooking class with chef Jordi Grau.
Authorities toured stalls offering artisanal and sustainable products, with a mix of returning and new vendors. The programme through Saturday features over 40 activities such as yoga, meditation, pilates, live dance, sound experiences, creative workshops, children's events, gastronomic demos, shows, open-air cinema and concerts—including a 8:30pm set by young Andorran artist IAN at the Casa Bergé-sponsored Espai Música. The event closes with DJ Miqui Puig.
