Cirque du Soleil's Ràdio Andorra Draws 54,600 Despite Attendance Drop
Andorra Turisme hails the show a triumph for its exceptional feedback and tourism impact, even as numbers dipped due to factors like the World Cup. High satisfaction drives early preparations for future productions.
Key Points
- 54,600 spectators across 22 shows in July, 79% occupancy vs. 83% last year
- 9/10 rating from surveys, highest in 11-year history of Andorra Turisme productions
- 73% of visitors cited show as main reason for trip, generated 100,000 overnights
- Nearly 1 million total spectators over series; 2027 show to be last under contract
Andorra Turisme has described Cirque du Soleil's Ràdio Andorra as the highest-rated production in its 11-year history in the Principat, despite a drop in attendance to 54,600 spectators across 22 performances in July.
Enric Torres, the agency's director of product and events, provided a preliminary tally on the closing night, noting an average occupancy of 79%—four percentage points below the 83% of 2025's Il·lu. The figure awaits final sales from the last show and reflects a reduced venue capacity of 3,153 seats, down nearly 350 from the previous year's 3,500. Last year's event drew over 64,000 attendees.
Torres emphasized that the core goal of attracting tourists had been met. "We have always staged these shows to bring visitors to Andorra, and this objective has been fulfilled with the volume of spectators who came to enjoy the production," he said. Initial surveys gave the show a 9 out of 10 rating, the best so far, with many describing it as highly enjoyable. This underscored the appeal of the exclusive production inspired by Andorran heritage.
The audience profile remained consistent: 73% Spaniards, mostly Catalans, followed by French visitors with a slight increase; 86% were non-residents, including 63% who had attended prior editions. Visitors averaged 2.3 nights in Andorra, generating around 100,000 overnights—about 10% of July's total. Some 73% cited the show as their main reason for visiting, 86% plan to return next year, and 73% would recommend it. The cast included 28 performers from 13 countries.
Torres avoided firm conclusions on the attendance decline, noting Tourism Minister Jordi Torres had previously mentioned possible influences like the football World Cup and high July temperatures. Andorra Turisme has launched a survey targeting past attendees who skipped this year to pinpoint reasons. A definitive report, including full survey results, is set for October, alongside plans for the 2027 show—the last under the current contract. Artistic and strategic lines for next year are already in development.
Previous editions peaked above 100,000 in 2016 and 2019; the series has now attracted nearly one million spectators overall.
