  • New elements included Sunday's vermut popular with sardana dancing and drinks for community cohesion.
  • Communal arrossada served rice to about 500 attendees amid good weather.
  • Event held over weekend in Santa Coloma parish, defying poor forecast concerns.

Olalla Losada, the cònsol menor of Andorra la Vella, has commended the new commission behind this year's Santa Coloma Major Festival for its success in restoring lapsed activities and introducing innovative elements.

The event unfolded over the weekend in the Santa Coloma parish. Losada praised the commission's enthusiasm and commitment in reviving traditions skipped last year. "This commission has done excellent work to recover Santa Coloma's activities with great enthusiasm and eagerness," she noted.

Key among the restored events was Saturday afternoon's concurs de flams, a fire-jumping contest absent in the previous edition. The programme also featured fresh initiatives, including Sunday's vermut popular. Losada highlighted how such simple gatherings promote cohesion among neighbours, offering a space that combines sardana dancing with relaxed drinks. "It's something very basic, but it truly brings festivity and community spirit to Santa Coloma residents," she explained.

Sunday's communal arrossada drew the largest crowds, with rice prepared for about 500 attendees. "No one will go without," Losada confirmed.

Good weather supported the full schedule, defying initial forecasts that had sparked concerns over possible interruptions. This enabled residents to fully enjoy the commission's efforts, the Andorra la Vella comú stated.
