Andorra Castellers Host Tolosa and Montblanc Groups at Diada dels Pirineus

Andorra's Castellers hosted visiting groups from Tolosa and Montblanc at the Diada dels Pirineus in Andorra la Vella's Rotonda square on Saturday, drawing around 340 participants under sunny skies.

The event brought together Castellers d'Andorra, Castellers de Tolosa, and Torraires de Montblanc to celebrate Pyrenean popular culture while serving as a rehearsal for upcoming performances. Castellers d'Andorra completed five builds: two pillars of four, a quatre de sis amb agulla, a cinc de sis, and a second quatre de sis. Torraires de Montblanc managed a pillar of four, two de sis, a quatre de sis amb agulla, a cinc de sis, a pillar of five, and another pillar of four. Castellers de Tolosa performed a pillar of four, a tres de sis, a dos de cinc, a quatre de cinc, and a second pillar of four.

Club president Juli Peña described the day as a test run ahead of major events, particularly the Tarragona Castells Contest on October 3, where the Andorran group plans to showcase recent training progress, including efforts toward the demanding quatre de set amb agulla.

Traditionally held in Ordino, this edition shifted to the capital for logistical reasons. Peña traced the event's name to the group's Pyrenean location, distinguishing it from occasions like the baptism day or Festa Major. He noted the shared shirts and sashes made the ensembles blend together, unlike past events with distinct colors.

Performances kicked off at 5 p.m. with welcome pillars from each group, followed by multi-level towers amid crowd cheers. Video captured the structures rising in the city center as participants honed skills for Tarragona.
