Andorra's French Cultural Season Unveils 38 Events for 2026-2027

Andorra's 21st French cultural season for 2026-2027 will present 38 diverse events in music, dance, theatre, cinema and education, involving 68 partners including programmers, sponsors, cultural associations and institutions, as well as support from the government, Consell General and the seven parishes.

French Ambassador Nicolas Eybalin unveiled the programme, which seeks to bolster cultural ties between the Principality and France, with a special emphasis on the Occitania region. The season opens officially on September 17 at the Consell General with a concert by young musicians from Philippe Jaroussky's academy. Preceding this, French groups Klone, Lifeboats and Sex Shop Mushrooms will perform on September 11 and 12 as part of the Rockòdrom festival in Arinsal.

A key highlight is the debut French Film Week from September 29 to October 6, featuring nine recent films in free screenings with Catalan subtitles. The event opens with the first part of La bataille De Gaulle, tracing Charles de Gaulle's early years, and closes with its second part alongside L’abandon, a tribute to murdered teacher Samuel Paty.

Music events include the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse at Auditori Nacional on June 5, 2027, its first link-up with ClàssicAnd. The Choeur de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux performs Mozart's Requiem at Santuari de Meritxell on October 16. Nathalie Marin conducts "Una altra mirada" on November 14 at Auditori Nacional, pairing Mozart with works by female composers. Andorra Lírica co-produces Offenbach's Orfeu als inferns on March 6 with Galician troupe Oya Kephele.

Dance offerings feature Ceinture de feu by Ariège-based La Zampa on October 10 at La Massana, plus In Between and Paradis. Theatre brings Molière's L’Avare on December 3 at Teatre Comunal, Touristes au Japon and the Science Comedy Show blending physics and humour for high school students in February.

Youth-focused initiatives continue collaboration between Lycée Comte de Foix and the Ministry of Education. Building on last year's image education project with a Visa pour l’Image photographer, a new video reporting programme pairs students from French and Andorran systems with a professional journalist to cover current affairs. On January 12 and 13, pupils from Lycée Comte de Foix and Escola Andorrana de Santa Coloma join the participatory Joue ta Pnyx by Les Guêpes Rouges at Santa Coloma, examining democracy, voting and decision-making.
