Andorra Launches €35K Tender for Second Eixivern Catalan Creators Event

Andorran authorities seek a firm to host the second Eixivern, uniting digital creators for Catalan-language dialogues and content production. The tender supports language law goals by boosting its digital presence through campaigns.

Key Points

  • Public tender published September 9 for firm to organize Eixivern 2027 at Unsquare Studio in March.
  • Event features discussions, roundtables, podcasts, and promo materials; total funding €25K from government and parishes.
  • Follows successful 2024 debut with 20 creators and 50 attendees on International Mother Language Day.
  • Aims to promote Catalan in digital content via media, social platforms, and public awareness.

The Andorran government has launched a public tender worth 35,000 euros to select a firm responsible for organising and promoting the second edition of Eixivern, an event bringing together digital content creators who work in Catalan.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, through its Language Policy department, published the tender notice in the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA) on 9 September. The gathering is set for a weekend in the first half of March 2027, with Unsquare Studio as the preferred venue. Activities will include discussions, roundtables, podcasts and other interactions, plus the creation of audio, video and poster materials. A supporting publicity drive will target media, social platforms, radio, television, cinemas and billboards to promote Catalan-language content and its everyday digital use.

Funding totals 21,000 euros from central government, topped up by 2,000 euros each from the parish councils. The project aligns with the official language law, mandating public institutions to advance Catalan online via joint strategies, awareness efforts and targeted measures.

This builds on the inaugural Eixivern, held on 21 February to mark International Mother Language Day. That event drew around 20 creators for morning professional sessions and about 50 attendees for the afternoon public programme. Culture Minister Mònica Bonell attended and expressed satisfaction, noting it encouraged plans for future editions.

The tender follows a national open procedure. Interested firms can download specifications free from the public procurement platform. Submissions must arrive electronically by 14:00 on 28 October, with Envelope A openings scheduled remotely the next day at 11:00. Observers require advance approval from the contracting body.

Organisers aim to foster a dynamic network of creators, demonstrating that Catalan enhances content's authenticity, reliability and audience engagement, without requiring exclusive use of the language.
