Canillo Unveils Heritage Mural by Arnau Sánchez in Incles Valley

The Canillo parish council has unveiled a new artistic mural on a stone hut at the exit of Incles valley, designed to spotlight the area's natural, cultural and traditional heritage.

Local artist Arnau Sánchez Campamà created the winning entry from a parish competition seeking a landscape-integrated artwork. His design topped three submissions, standing out for its artistic quality, seamless fit with the Incles surroundings, alignment with the theme and technical viability.

The project aimed to add contemporary artistic touches to the valley's heritage without diluting its essential character. Canillo's senior councillor, Jordi Alcobé, noted that officials want Incles to remain a key landmark, with the mural boosting its appeal and value.

Sánchez Campamà, tackling his first mural, called it a challenge and a chance to produce site-specific work. He sought to make the piece interact with the landscape and valley's identity, offering visitors a fresh perspective on the space.

Councillor Coia Torres highlighted how such efforts link culture, public participation and the local environment.
