Correos Andorra has released a new stamp in its Flora series dedicated to the conillets (Antirrhinum majus), a plant common across the Principat's rocky slopes and known for its striking flowers.
The issue includes 45,000 copies priced at €6 each, designed in a triangular format and presented in a full block sheet. The artwork captures the species' vivid red, purple, pink or white blooms and their distinctive texture, highlighting a key element of Andorra's natural heritage for collectors and the public.
Belonging to the plantain family, conillets grows 40 to 80 centimetres tall on upright stems lined with alternate, lance-shaped leaves. Its flowers form terminal spikes, with a corolla shaped like a nectar pouch that splits into two lips. Pressing the flower causes the lips to snap open, resembling an animal's snout—an endearing trait behind folk names such as rabbit's mouth, dragon's mouth or lion's mouth.
Thriving on rocky slopes, walls and scree in the Mediterranean basin, the plant adapts well to Andorra's terrain and serves ornamental purposes in gardens, pots and borders.
Correos aims to celebrate the Principat's biodiversity through this philatelic release. Stamps are available at the Andorra la Vella post office, online via Correos Market, by emailing the philatelic service at cliente.filatelia@correos.com, or calling 915 197 197.
