Canillo's Livestock and Crafts Fair brought together 20 livestock houses and 52 craft and local-produce vendors on Sunday, with the livestock exhibition concentrated at the former Càmping Pla and the commercial stalls moved under a marquee at the Sella car park.
Organisers relocated the 52 stalls to Sella because of the weather forecast, ensuring the fair could go ahead under cover. The livestock display at the former Càmping Pla was intended to give visibility to an activity long tied to Canillo's economy and social life.
Gifts for the participating livestock houses were scheduled for 13.30 at the former Càmping Pla, in recognition of the farmers' role in sustaining this activity.
Consul major Jordi Alcobé highlighted the importance of keeping the fair in the parish calendar and supporting sectors linked to Canillo's history and traditions. He argued that preserving this heritage and passing it on to younger generations helps maintain the parish's identity, and defended the event's continuity as a means of transmitting that legacy.
The day's programme also included free morning admission to the Museu de la Moto and the Espai Galobardes, between 10.00 and 14.00. In the afternoon, the church of Sant Serni was due to host the presentation of Carta d'un capellà jubilat als seus amics by mossèn Ramon.
The fair coincided with the start of the Quinzena de la Cuina Canillenca, the parish's gastronomic fortnight, which runs until 8 November with 17 local establishments taking part. Tourism and Trade councillor Àlex Kinchella said both initiatives help promote livestock farming, crafts and locally sourced products, describing them as expressions of the parish's cultural heritage and identity.
