The Canillo council has unveiled plans for a human-scale maze on the Soldeu ski platform, priced at around €115,000, to attract families and bolster summer tourism in the parish.
Council leader Jordi Alcobé outlined the initiative during a resident meeting in Soldeu on Tuesday afternoon, attended by about 30 locals. He emphasised the council's commitment to projects that enhance residents' quality of life, create a cohesive urban image, and position Canillo as an all-year tourist hub while spurring economic activity.
The maze forms the flagship element, designed to introduce fresh summer attractions and diversify beyond winter skiing. Supporting measures include upgrades to a 400-metre stretch of the CG-2 highway through Soldeu. These will widen pavements, narrow car lanes to reduce speeds, and add planters, mirroring recent work in Canillo centre to improve pedestrian safety, comfort, and aesthetics.
The "Vestim els carrers" scheme, set for this summer, will feature thematic decorations in Soldeu's old town. Residents at the meeting reviewed designs and voted, favouring rural and traditional styles to foster a welcoming summer atmosphere.
Taken together, the initiatives signal ongoing investment in sustainable development for both locals and visitors.
