Visitors to Ordino Arcalís ski station can enjoy hearty mountain fare at La Coma d’Arcalís restaurant, located at 2,220 metres altitude in a striking subalpine setting.
Reached via the Tristaina cable car, the venue forms part of a complex featuring a fast-food outlet with a large terrace, a base camp kiosk serving drinks and sandwiches, and occasional live music. The design draws on traditional Pyrenean stone-and-wood borda aesthetics, creating a rustic, welcoming interior with wooden beams, stone walls, varied dining areas, neatly set tables, and cosy corners with sofas.
Staff, including hostess Dolça and waiter Fernando, provide swift, professional service. The menu emphasises grilled dishes, salads, starters, rice specials, pizzas, and pasta. Diners recently savoured grilled artichokes topped with ham—tender hearts and crisp leaves—and a fondant of Camembert with confit figs, its pungent aroma ideal for dipping bread. The mountain rice followed, packed with chicken, botifarra sausage, trompettes de la mort mushrooms, and ceps; cooked dry yet flavourful, it impressed even those preferring brothier versions. Dessert brought chocolate-nut brownie with vanilla ice cream, followed by coffee and herbal tea on the base camp terrace.
The house wine, 3404 from Bodega Pirineos in Spain’s Somontano region, paired well—a fresh, fruity 2024 red blending Merlot, Garnacha, and Moristel, suited to charcuterie, cheeses, rice, and grilled mountain cuisine. Average price excluding wine: €25-35. Open 12-16h throughout winter and summer seasons. Contact: +376 759 529.
