Andorra's Environmental Spending Hits Record 44.4 Million Euros in 2025

Public spending on environmental protection in Andorra reached a record 44.4 million euros in 2025, an 18.1% increase from 37.6 million euros in 2024, according to figures published this week by the Department of Statistics.
The amount equals 1.1% of gross domestic product and 3.6% of total outlays by public administrations and the Andorra Waste Treatment Centre (CTRASA), excluding financial assets, liabilities, and government transfers to public entities. Per capita expenditure climbed from 432 euros to 499 euros.
Growth centred on waste management and pollution reduction efforts carried out by the government, communes, and CTRASA. Waste management took the biggest portion at 15.8 million euros, or 35.5% of the total and up 18% from the prior year. Pollution reduction posted the sharpest rise, up 60.5% to 7.5 million euros.
Biodiversity and landscape protection accounted for 11.2 million euros, while wastewater management totalled nearly 5 million euros. Research and development received 1.1 million euros, with 3.8 million euros in other unspecified environmental protection.
By economic breakdown, current goods and services led with 22.1 million euros. Real investments surged 69.9% to 4.9 million euros, and capital transfers jumped 70.6% to 4.6 million euros.
The data point to sustained momentum, with 2025 spending more than 50% higher than the 29.2 million euros recorded in 2020 and signalling greater priority for environmental measures in public budgets.
