Andorra Records First Tropical Nights of Year at High-Altitude Coll de Pal

Andorra has recorded its first tropical nights of the year, with temperatures staying above 20°C overnight in several locations, including the high-altitude Coll de Pal.

The Servei Meteorològic d'Andorra reported a minimum of 20.4°C at Coll de Pal, at 2,280 metres elevation, during Thursday night. This marked a tropical night—defined as one where temperatures do not drop below 20°C from dusk to dawn—a rare occurrence at such heights. The site had reached a daytime high of 30°C on Thursday.

Visual Meteo noted a low of 20.1°C in Escaldes-Engordany, among the warmest overnight readings across the country. Northern valleys in Ordino parish, such as Llorts and La Cortinada, fared slightly better with minima above 13°C.

The episode follows the hottest day so far this year and forms part of the fifth heatwave since Wednesday, affecting Andorra and much of southern Europe. Friday will see persistent humidity under light cloud cover, with the heat showing no immediate signs of easing.
