Andorra's UETA Tackles Climate Change with Expert Talks

Andorra's 42nd Summer and Autumn University (UETA) will focus on climate change under the banner "Climate Change: The Challenge of the 21st Century."

Organised by the government, the series of lectures will explore the causes, effects and responses to the climate crisis through talks by international specialists. Sessions are scheduled for 14, 15, 21 and 22 September at the Consòrcia hall in Andorra la Vella's congress centre. All events are free, open to the public and include simultaneous French-to-Catalan interpretation.

The programme kicks off on 14 September with a presentation by Christian Gollier, professor at Toulouse School of Economics. Titled "The Economics of Climate (In)action", it will assess the costs of inaction and policies needed for an efficient energy transition.

On 15 September, Valérie Masson-Delmotte, former co-chair of an IPCC working group, will address the crisis's current status and key adaptation measures.

Marta Torres Gunfaus, climate programme director at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), takes the stage on 21 September to emphasise international cooperation and diplomacy against this global issue.

The final session on 22 September features Marta G. Rivera-Ferre, an expert in agri-food systems and climate change, who will examine ways to transform food production and consumption for sustainability, security and resource preservation.

Covering economic, adaptation policy, diplomatic and food systems angles, UETA aims to boost public awareness and discussion of this critical topic. The event continues the series' tradition of expert-led outreach on major global matters.
