Pensions for people with severe disabilities in Andorra grew amid shifting applications and demographics

The number of active solidarity pensions for people with severe disabilities in Andorra reached 439 as of 30 June 2026, up 10.3% from 398 a year earlier, according to Department of Statistics data. This reflects a rise of 41 recipients, with an interim figure of 419 active on 31 December 2025.

Applications in the second quarter of 2026 dropped 7.1% to 13 from 14 the year before. Authorities approved nine (69.2%), rejected three (23.1%), and archived one (7.7%).

Women accounted for 246 pensions, or 56% of the total, while men had 193. The 56-60 age group held the most at 70 pensions (15.9%), followed by 61-65 with 58 (13.2%). Andorrans led nationalities at 241 (54.9%), followed by Spaniards with 105 (23.9%) and Portuguese with 68 (15.5%). French nationals received nine, and 16 went to other groups.

Multiple disabilities affected 232 people (52.8%), followed by intellectual disabilities (85), mental illness (48), and physical disabilities (45). Some 274 recipients (62.4%) had a 60-69% disability rating, 113 were at 70-79%, 37 at 80-89%, and 15 at 90-100%.

Monthly payments for 249 pensions (56.7%) fell between €1,201 and the 2026 minimum interprofessional wage of €1,525.33. The €1,001-€1,200 band expanded from 24 to 47 cases, a 95.8% increase.

Single individuals made up 281 recipients (64%), followed by married (93), separated (36), divorced (26), and widowed (3). Lifelong Andorra residents numbered 181 (41.2%), with 83 having lived in the country 26-40 years.

These benefits assist those with severe disabilities facing work barriers and insufficient resources. Figures derive from the Ministry of Social Affairs' registry, processed by Statistics, and are provisional amid the transition to quarterly reporting. Final annual data are due in the first quarter of 2027.
