Police arrested a 24-year-old man in Encamp late Friday night in a public parking area near Funicamp after he resisted officers and was found with traces of a narcotic substance.

Officers on routine patrol spotted the man acting suspiciously and approached to check his identification. He attempted to flee but was quickly intercepted. During the intervention, he reacted violently, striking two officers and causing them injuries, which complicated the operation, police sources said. A search uncovered a small paperina containing remnants of a toxic drug, confirmed by field testing.

The man faces charges for offences against public health due to drug possession, against public authority for resisting arrest, and against physical and moral integrity for the assault on the officers.

His companion was issued a minor penal infringement notice and released at the scene. No further details on the individuals have been disclosed.

In a separate incident early Saturday morning, police detained a 34-year-old man found with a wrap containing cocaine remnants.
