Two Crashes Hit Andorra la Vella's Avinguda Santa Coloma in 24 Hours

A Spanish car smashed into a roundabout on a key Andorra la Vella road yesterday morning, hours after a motorcycle collision injured a teenage girl on the same avenue. Police and emergency teams responded to both.

Key Points

  • Spanish-plated car crashed into Borda Bastida roundabout at 6:45am, damaging wall.
  • Emergency services treated occupants; traffic managed on busy road.
  • Earlier crash at 4pm: Andorran car hit motorcycle with father and 16-year-old daughter, injuring her leg.
  • Police investigating both incidents; causes unconfirmed.

A car with Spanish plates crashed into the Borda Bastida roundabout at the junction of Avinguda Santa Coloma and Carrer Gil Torres in Andorra la Vella yesterday morning around 6:45am.

The vehicle struck a low wall surrounding the roundabout, leaving it heavily damaged. Police traffic specialists will investigate the exact cause, which has not been confirmed.

Emergency services responded quickly. Traffic agents from Andorra la Vella managed the scene to limit disruption on one of the parish's busiest access roads. Police attended, along with several fire service units including an ambulance to treat the car's occupants and a support truck in case debris needed clearing from the road.

This incident marks the second crash on Avinguda Santa Coloma within hours. The previous afternoon, shortly before 4pm, a car pulling out from a petrol station at number 117—further down the avenue towards Spain—collided with a motorcycle carrying a father and daughter. Both vehicles were Andorran-registered. The impact threw the bike onto the girl's lower leg, causing her injuries. Medical teams, police and traffic agents also mobilised there. Police reported the motorcyclist as a 16-year-old girl.
