Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Encamp Car Crash, Multiple Andorra Incidents Reported

A 35-year-old resident suffered significant injuries when a car struck him on a pedestrian crossing near the Ràdio Andorra roundabout in Encamp on Thursday evening.

The crash took place shortly after 8pm at the start of the Encamp variant road, beyond the Ràdio Andorra tunnel toward Canillo. The pedestrian remained conscious following the impact. Two off-duty nurses provided initial first aid at the scene until SUM emergency teams arrived, offered treatment, and transferred him to hospital by ambulance.

Police deployed a standard patrol, a specialised traffic accident unit, and Encamp parish traffic agents. They set up alternating one-way traffic, diverting vehicles through the parish centre where possible, and temporarily closed the area. This caused queues lasting about 30 minutes until normal flow resumed. The vehicle had Andorran plates. No details have emerged on the driver's status or the precise cause as the probe continues.

In a separate incident that day, a 44-year-old man received minor injuries in a collision between an Andorran-registered car and van at 4:42pm on Avinguda Sant Antoni near number 27 in La Massana.

On Tuesday at 12:36pm, a 28-year-old Andorran motorcyclist sustained bruises, along with elbow and leg pain, after colliding with the door of a stationary rental van on Avinguda Doctor Mitjavila. The crash involved three Andorran-registered vehicles—a car, motorcycle, and van—when a van occupant opened the door without noticing the approaching bike. The rider struck the door, fell onto the road, and required ambulance treatment on site before hospital transfer for further checks. An ambulance initially faced delays due to heavy traffic.

Police, traffic agents, and emergency services attended. The incident caused severe congestion on Avinguda Doctor Mitjavila, extending to Fiter and Rossell, with traffic reduced from two lanes to one to aid the response. Conditions improved gradually after the motorcycle was cleared and the rider evacuated.

Police continue to investigate a motorcycle crash on Avinguda Tarragona in Andorra la Vella, reported at 11:30am on Wednesday. It involved an Andorran bike and a UK-registered convertible, with no injuries but only material damage. Three police cars and five circulation service officers managed long queues at the scene.
