Two Injured in Minor Kitchen Fire on Carrer Gil Torres in Andorra

Two people suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire broke out in a first-floor apartment on Carrer Gil Torres on Thursday midday.

Firefighters received the alert at 12:48pm when a neighbour reported thick smoke billowing from a kitchen window. Emergency teams arrived to find the blaze had started from a pot left on the stove while preparing lunch. The two residents were already outside the building by the time responders reached the scene.

Crews quickly extinguished the flames and ventilated the apartment and stairwell. The victims received on-site treatment for light smoke inhalation before being transferred to Meritxell Hospital for further checks.

The response involved nine firefighters operating four vehicles: a ladder truck, a fire engine, the duty officer's vehicle, and a firefighters' ambulance. Medical services included two private ambulances and one from the Servei d’Urgències Mèdiques (SUM). Two police patrols and traffic officers from the capital also attended to manage the area.

The operation lasted about an hour, with material damage confined mainly to the kitchen. Reports differ on whether the incident occurred in Andorra la Vella or Santa Coloma, both parishes sharing the street name. Authorities have not yet clarified the exact location.
