**Police arrest five drivers for drink-driving over the weekend, including one with blood alcohol level more than five times the legal limit**
Andorran police detained five motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol over the weekend, with one case standing out due to an exceptionally high reading.
On Sunday afternoon, officers stopped a 55-year-old resident on the Cortals d'Encamp road following a citizen's report of possible intoxication. The breath test showed 3.18 grams of alcohol per litre of blood, among the highest recorded in recent months and over five times the legal threshold.
The other arrests occurred between Saturday and Sunday. Early Saturday in Andorra la Vella, police checked a 19-year-old with 0.99 g/L and a 34-year-old man registering 1.04 g/L. The latter also carried 2.5 grams of cocaine and 0.6 grams of marijuana, and tested positive for drugs. Later that afternoon on the Rabassa road in Sant Julià de Lòria, a 24-year-old non-resident gave 0.89 g/L; officers found he used a false identity and violated an expulsion order, leading to additional charges related to legal traffic and justice administration. Early Sunday in La Massana, a 47-year-old man recorded 1.66 g/L after crashing into three kerb posts on Avinguda Sant Antoni, causing material damage, and fleeing the scene—local traffic officers alerted police to his location.
Police also made drug-related arrests over the period. A 29-year-old man had 1.1 grams of cocaine, while two women aged 24 and 26 possessed one gram more; nearby, officers found two wraps containing an extra 1.2 grams. On Sunday morning in Pas de la Casa, a 29-year-old non-resident faced charges for breaching an administrative expulsion order.
