Andorra's Ministry of Education has confirmed a meeting with Google representatives has taken place to address security flaws in school iPads, following an incident last school year where primary pupils accessed sexual content via a vulnerability in Google Images.
The flaw stemmed from an incomplete update, allowing first-year students at Santa Coloma school—using school-owned iPads for collaborative tasks—to reach inappropriate material. Officials withdrew the devices from all centres upon discovery.
Ministry head Ladislau Baró led a press appearance to outline summer measures, including joint efforts with Andorra Telecom, technical interventions by consultants, and an independent audit. These aim to secure the full school network, which relies on Google's Workspace platform.
Baró stressed "total rapport" with Google for collaborative fixes. He added that if doubts persist, schools would revert to pen and paper over technology.
The ministry plans no further details until September, when it will report all actions and decide on reinstating iPads in classrooms.
