Spanish Man, 62, Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Andorra's Envalira Pass

A 62-year-old Spanish resident of Andorra has died in Barcelona from severe injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on the Envalira pass.

The crash took place on August 1 on the CG-2 road at kilometre 24 near Pas de la Casa. Another driver discovered the rider unconscious beside his damaged KTM motorcycle, which bore Spanish plates, around 2:45pm while navigating a bend. No evidence of skidding or external factors emerged, pointing investigators toward a possible medical incident that caused him to lose control, strike a barrier, and suffer serious cranial trauma.

Rescue teams airlifted the man by helicopter to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell hospital in Andorra for initial care. Doctors, assessing the extent of his critical head injury, arranged a same-day transfer to Barcelona's Sant Pau hospital for advanced treatment. He remained in serious condition there from the day of the incident until his death in the Catalan capital.

A long-term Canillo resident who worked in Pas de la Casa, the victim had family connections in Andorra and chaired his building's owners' association. His passing has shocked local acquaintances.

The Mobility Service offered its sympathies to his relatives and friends on social media. Sources near the family indicate the funeral will occur in his Spanish hometown. Officials have released no further information on the suspected medical event or postmortem results.
