Andorra la Vella council has opened a national tender for the renewal and expansion of the children's play area at Prat Condal park in Santa Coloma, with a base budget of €165,000.

The local authority detailed the project in the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA) on Wednesday. Firms have until 3pm on 8 October to submit bids through the government's electronic public procurement platform. Offers will be assessed on a weighted system: 70% price, 20% proven experience in similar projects over the past five years, and 10% application of social inclusion criteria for vulnerable groups. Envelope openings are set for 10am on 13 October, with public attendance available upon request to compres@comuandorra.ad. The works must be completed within two consecutive months of contract award.

The initiative targets a full upgrade of the site to deliver modern, appealing facilities aligned with current safety rules. Existing wooden elements—a multi-play unit and two swings on impact-absorbing flooring—show heavy wear from use and weather, prompting full removal along with perimeter fencing.

New installations will feature outdoor equipment with age-appropriate signage and safety warnings. The ground will include a 15cm reinforced concrete slab topped by 80mm continuous impact-absorbing rubber surfacing in two layers (SBR and EPDM). Access and perimeter paths will use light brown textured concrete cobblestones. Fencing will adopt the Rivisa system: 1m high around the play zone and 2m in the dog area. An irrigation circuit will be adjusted for the revised layout, while the slide area, drinking fountain, existing trees, unaffected grass, and landscaping remain in place. Three benches may shift position.

Equipment must meet EU standards, avoiding sun-heated metal surfaces, and use eco-friendly options such as 100% recyclable plastic, SDU (from alabaster sulphates, resins, and recycled glass), or certified sustainable wood. Bids cannot exceed the €165,000 limit, VAT included.
