Fire Destroys La Querola Residential Development in Ordino

A major fire has completely destroyed the seven blocks of the La Querola residential development in Ordino parish, with the flames now under control as crews focus on extinguishing remaining hotspots and safeguarding nearby woodland.

Emergency services were alerted at 1:45 a.m. to a blaze in one of the buildings, triggering a response from the La Massana fire station. The fire quickly engulfed the entire site, which includes 52 homes on a 6,900-square-metre plot with a 350-metre perimeter. It affected roughly 10,000 square metres of residential structures and 12,000 square metres of parking areas. The development was still under construction.

Thirty-four firefighters, supported by 14 fire units—including two from the Generalitat de Catalunya's station in La Seu d'Urgell—are working at the scene. Firefighters from Pas de la Casa have shifted to the Canillo station to cover emergencies in the Orient valley while their colleagues assist on site.

State Secretary Joan Antoni León and Fire Director Juanjo Barrio are present, with Interior Minister Ester Molné expected to arrive. Around 20 officers from the Public Security and Investigation units of the police are providing ground support, alongside drone operators from the aerial resources section. Additional personnel from Nord Andorrà, Ordino Traffic Service, Civil Protection, the Red Cross, and two SUM units are also involved.

Authorities confirm the fire is contained, though operations continue on site. Further updates are expected.
