Càritas Andorrana Donates €72K for Venezuela Earthquake Relief

Càritas Andorrana has contributed €71,998.70 to emergency response and reconstruction following Venezuela's earthquake, amid the nation's ongoing economic challenges.

The funding, sourced from private donations, a €20,000 voluntary grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and €25,000 from the organisation's own resources, began with an initial €25,000 transfer in early July. This supported Cáritas Venezuela's immediate relief efforts in the subsequent month, including distribution of 22,924 kits of food and hygiene products to the same number of families, benefiting an estimated 91,696 to 114,620 people.

Cáritas Venezuela also delivered 99,608 units of medical supplies and medicines, mainly to strained hospitals and care centres, aiding treatment for earthquake victims.

Operations are now transitioning from short-term aid to recovery for thousands in temporary camps and others unable to return home. Priorities include housing, healthcare, livelihood promotion, and psychosocial support for those affected.

Cáritas Venezuela is supported by Caritas Internationalis members, including Caritas Germany, Catholic Relief Services, Cáritas Española, and Cáritas Puerto Rico, which have provided on-the-ground technical assistance from the outset to uphold international standards.

Càritas Andorrana expressed thanks to all donors, entities, and institutions involved, while echoing Cáritas Venezuela's call to sustain contributions in the months ahead to meet the Venezuelan people's needs.
