Search Intensifies for Missing 28-Year-Old British Tourist in Escaldes-Engordany

Police in Escaldes-Engordany pressed ahead with their search for a 28-year-old Irish tourist missing since early Sunday morning, as investigators focused on reconstructing his movements after leaving his accommodation without his identification or mobile phone.

The man, who has hemiplegia affecting one side of his body, had arrived in Andorra from Spain and stayed at a guesthouse in upper Escaldes. He spent the night there from Saturday to Sunday but departed around dawn on Sunday, when reception was unattended. Staff alerted authorities on Wednesday morning after he failed to return for two nights, leaving behind his backpack, documents, and other belongings—except his phone. He also did not board a bus he had booked for midday Tuesday.

Police led the probe, analyzing CCTV footage from the area to trace any path he might have taken. All on-duty teams and patrols received alerts, with criminal police prioritizing clues to his whereabouts. Firefighters' mountain rescue group visually inspected the nearby riverbed on Wednesday but found no leads. Checks on his phone signal have so far yielded no useful details, and he reportedly carried no charger or cash.

No solid traces have emerged, and investigators expressed pessimism amid the lack of direction, though they held out hope for a breakthrough. Operations encompassed urban streets around the guesthouse and adjacent river zones, building on initial efforts to review security camera images and patrol key spots.

The tourist had planned a three-night stay starting August 22 but vanished after the first night. Authorities continue verifications without releasing further specifics on his last confirmed sighting.
