Andorra Police Arrest Woman for €900 Cash Theft from Public Office

Police in Escaldes-Engordany arrested a 47-year-old woman on Thursday morning, accusing her of crimes against public administration and the security of legal transactions. The investigation began after workplace colleagues spotted irregularities in cash management during April.

Authorities suspect she pocketed more than €900 from cash payments. In certain cases, she issued receipts and then cancelled the transactions. In others, she allegedly took the money without providing any receipt to customers. What started as subtle discrepancies in accounts—such as mismatched records and unissued proofs—escalated into a full probe, revealing a pattern that required familiarity with the payment system.

The woman has been handed over to the courts, and the matter is now under judicial oversight as police continue examining records for any additional irregularities.

In a separate case that same morning, officers in La Massana stopped a 66-year-old driver after he lost control of his vehicle while heading uphill on Avinguda del Ravell, colliding with a parked car in a minor damage accident. A breathalyser revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.87 g/l.

Over recent days, border officers at the France-Andorra frontier also detained a 34-year-old man entering the country after finding 0.56 grams of cocaine in his possession.
