Andorran police extradited a French couple wanted for drug trafficking and money laundering to French authorities on Wednesday morning, after the Tribunal de Corts approved the handover.
The 32-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested in late January in El Tarter while visiting Andorra as tourists. An international arrest warrant had just been circulated via Interpol, as French investigators suspected they might be in Spain, Andorra, or Morocco. Upon receiving the alert, Andorran officers located the pair, informed the Ministry of Justice and Interior, and secured a detention order from the Public Prosecutor's Office. A court then remanded them in pre-trial custody at the Centre Penitenciari de la Comella while extradition was processed.
With judicial approval in place, police transferred the suspects to France's Gendarmerie nationale at the Franco-Andorran border for transport to face charges.
French investigators view the man, classified as dangerous, as the ringleader of a major drug trafficking network operating from January 2023 to November 2025 in the departments of Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. He is accused of overseeing cannabis and cocaine distribution across southwest France, including arranging cocaine shipments from the Paris region to the south. The woman faces charges linked to the same drug trafficking activities and laundering the resulting proceeds.
The extradition concludes Andorra's role in the case, which now moves to French courts.
