Andorra Mourns Teresa Petit, Wife of Ex-Conseller General and Mother of Former Head of Government

Escaldes-Engordany is mourning the death of Maria Teresa Petit Armengol, wife of former Conseller General Dot Martí Parramon and mother of ex-Consol and Head of Government Toni Martí Petit.

Teresa Petit, as she was commonly known, died overnight on Thursday at age 93. Born in November 1932, she would have turned 94 in a few months, though official records list 1931 due to a registration error. She had worked in healthcare at Clínica Vilanova earlier in life.

Her personal and family trajectory was closely tied to Andorran politics. She supported her husband, a barber and property manager for Casa Muntanya rentals, who served as Conseller General from 1976 to 1984 and was among those who promoted Escaldes-Engordany's establishment as a parish in 1978. Their eldest son shares his father's name, Dot, while second son Toni Martí Petit pursued a distinguished political career as Conseller General, parliamentary group president, successful Consol, and Head of Government from 2011 to 2019. Teresa remained a constant presence through his tenure, especially after his sudden death in November 2021, which contributed to her emotional and physical decline.

A wake will take place on Saturday from 10am to 1pm in Room 3 of Tanatori Nacional, opposite the hospital's emergency entrance. The funeral mass is set for 4pm that day at Sant Pere Màrtir church in Escaldes-Engordany.
