Andorra's Espot Hosts New French Co-Prince Rep Frédéric Rose on Inaugural Visit

Frédéric Rose, recently appointed French co-prince representative, began his first official trip to Andorra with a meeting at Head of Government Xavier Espot. The visit features planned engagements at key institutions amid his extensive public administration background.

Key Points

  • Xavier Espot gave Rose symbolic gifts: government pin, Andorran passport, and Manual Digest edition.
  • Meeting addressed shared concerns, building on April co-prince visit.
  • Tuesday agenda: Casa de la Vall visit, golden book signing, talks with syndics and parliamentary groups.
  • Rose's career includes prefect of Yvelines, Interior Ministry roles, and cabinet director since June 2026.

Andorra's head of government, Xavier Espot, hosted Frédéric Rose on Monday evening for the new French co-prince representative's inaugural official visit to the Principality.

Rose, who assumed the position a few weeks ago replacing Georges-François Leclerc, received symbolic welcome gifts from Espot: the government's institutional pin, an Andorran passport, and a special edition of the Manual Digest.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Rose to engage with Andorran officials and address shared concerns, continuing discussions from the French co-prince's visit to Andorra in April.

On Tuesday, Rose is scheduled to visit Casa de la Vall, where the general syndics will host him. He will sign the golden book, hold a bilateral meeting with them, and then tour the new General Council building for short talks with each parliamentary group in the Syndicatura meeting room.

Rose has a distinguished career in French public administration, with high-level roles in justice, interior security, and territorial affairs. His experience spans prefectures and the Interior Ministry, including a stint as an adviser on interior and security matters at the Presidency of the Republic and as prefect of Yvelines. Since June 2026, he has served as cabinet director to the French president.
