Unió Laurediana, the traditional political force in Sant Julià de Lòria, has renewed its leadership to gear up for upcoming national and local elections. The party held a congress on Thursday to elect a new executive committee, blending experienced figures with fresh faces from local families long associated with its project.

Pere Betriu Marfany takes over as president, with Oliver Alís Salguero serving as vice-president and spokesperson. Maria Servat Codina will act as secretary, Jordi Blanco Lopez as treasurer, and Carles Felip Pereira Barros as administrator. The board also includes vocal members Sonia Carrillo Bardají, Gerard Escuer Suarez, Marc Baró Casado, Marc Pintat Campamelos, Roger Fillet Bastida, and Agnès Ferrer Andreu.

The changes follow a decision by the outgoing executive, led by former president and ex-consol Josep Majoral, to inject new energy ahead of general elections—expected in 2027 unless brought forward—and subsequent communal polls. Some outgoing members, including Alís, remain on the board to provide institutional and parochial experience. Majoral shifts to the newly strengthened consultative council, an advisory body designed to foster dialogue between the executive, current and past party officials, and members. Betriu confirmed Majoral's ongoing commitment, describing him as a proactive asset who has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party.

The party statement emphasises a deliberate balance of proven political experience at national and local levels, solid private-sector management skills, and emerging voices. This mix aims to bolster UL's influence in the Consell General, the Andorran government, and Sant Julià de Lòria's communal council, while addressing residents' real concerns through competent professionals rooted in the parish.

Betriu stressed the need to overhaul internal operations after a period in communal opposition, recruiting motivated individuals and developing programmes. The party plans to "keep the pot simmering" with visible activity, without assuming executive members will top election lists. It commits to contesting both elections with a territorial candidacy for nationals and a local list, keeping all options open—including potential alliances—but only if they align with core principles. "It's too early to consider partnerships; first, we need clarity on our direction," Betriu said.

The consultative council will shape policy lines, engage civil society, experts, businesses, and community groups to enrich political debate on parish and national issues. The new leadership expressed deep gratitude to the outgoing team for sustaining UL through challenging times, preserving its presence in communal politics and founding values.
