Andona Racing claimed its first Copa d’Espanya cadet category victory on Sunday as Valeria Piñol won the Cursa Ciclista Femenina Ombria del Benicadell in Ontinyent, Valencia province.
The Andorran rider finished fastest in a sprint from a group of eight, clocking 41 minutes and 18 seconds to edge out Regina González of Occident-Punta Galea and Julia Cabada of Clementina Cycling Team. The result lifted Piñol to third in the overall standings and kept her team in the top five.
The squad also raced the demanding UCI professional GP Eibar by invitation, where Andrea Soldevila placed 15th in the elite category. Anna Albalat, Raquel Balboa, Isis Baraldés, Clàudia Galceran and Nora Sales rounded out the lineup, using the tough Basque terrain for valuable experience.
Team leaders at Andona Racing, also known as Andona Andbank, regard these competitions as essential for growth. They now target a solid showing at next week’s Campionat de Catalunya.
