MoraBanc Andorra has parted ways with center Morris Udeze following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The club confirmed the move on Wednesday, ending weeks of rumors after the 26-year-old American with Nigerian nationality sat out the past four games. His last appearance came on February 15 against Valencia Basket, where he played just over 11 minutes without scoring, grabbed three rebounds, and posted a negative valuation. Udeze, who measures 202 cm, arrived last summer from Japan's second-division Fukushima Firebonds, where he excelled, to make his Liga Endesa debut on a deal through season's end. Sporting director Francesc Solana had highlighted his athleticism to strengthen the paint at Udeze's unveiling. However, he fell short of expectations, saw his minutes dwindle amid new signings like Xavier Castañeda, Kostas Kostadinov, and Sir'Jabari Rice, and averaged 13 minutes 46 seconds, six points, 3.2 rebounds, and a six valuation across 20 outings.
The team thanked Udeze for his professionalism and dedication, wishing him success in his career and personal life. Sources indicate a possible return to Asian basketball.
Coach Žan Tabak now relies on Artem Pustovyi and Rubén Guerrero as primary centers, with Kostadinov stepping into greater rotation minutes. Power forward roles remain with Justin McKoy and Yves Pons.
The roster adjustment comes ahead of Sunday's 5 p.m. visit to league leaders Real Madrid, where MoraBanc holds just two wins from 14 trips—the most recent an 83-88 comeback in January 2022, and before that a 105-107 triumph in 2018.
