Andorra Schedules Friendlies Against Iraq, Liechtenstein and Kosovo Ahead of Nations League

Andorra's national football team has scheduled three friendly matches ahead of the UEFA Nations League campaign, set to run from 24 September to 17 November.

The squad, coached by Koldo Álvarez de Eulate, will face Iraq on Friday 29 May at 17:00 in Spain—likely in Galicia, possibly at Riazor stadium, though the exact venue remains unconfirmed. This marks the first-ever meeting between the sides. Iraq, under Australian manager Graham Arnold, will use the fixture to prepare for the World Cup starting 11 June in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Three days later, on Thursday 4 June at 19:00, Andorra hosts Liechtenstein at Nou Estadi de la FAF in Encamp. The international window concludes with a third friendly against Kosovo on Sunday 7 June at 19:00 in Pristina's Fadil Vokrri Stadium. Kosovo, ranked 78th by FIFA and coached by Germany's Franco Foda, recently missed the World Cup after beating Slovakia 3-4 in the play-off semi-final but losing narrowly to Turkey in the final. The teams have met before in Euro 2024 qualifying Group 1: Andorra earned a draw in March 2023 thanks to a Berto Rosas goal, but Kosovo won 3-0 in October under then-coach Primoz Gliha.

These matches coincide with the end of domestic competitions and aim to build match fitness and raise the competitive level. Andorra will compete in League D Group 1 alongside Gibraltar and Malta.

The June window will also see the debut of Andorra's new Adidas kit, which has sparked online debate. Some fans, including former international Ildefons Lima, have criticised its resemblance to Spain's colours, particularly the away version where blue—key to Andorra's tricolour flag—is limited to the shoulders, with red and yellow lines dominating the front.
