Andorra Schedules Friendlies Against Iraq and Liechtenstein Before Nations League

Andorra's national football team has scheduled two friendlies ahead of the UEFA Nations League: an away match against Iraq on May 29 in Spain, followed by a home fixture versus Liechtenstein on June 4 at Nou Estadi de la FAF in Encamp.

The game against Iraq, the teams' first-ever encounter, will take place at a venue still to be confirmed—most likely in northern Spain. Iraq, ranked 57th in the FIFA standings and coached by Australian Graham Arnold, qualified for the 2026 World Cup by beating Bolivia in a play-off final. They face a challenging Group I draw with France, Norway, and Senegal. After facing Andorra, Iraq will play Spain in a friendly at Riazor. Key players include striker Ali Al-Hamadi, on loan at Luton Town in England's League One from Ipswich Town; winger Marko Farji of Serie A newcomers Venezia; midfielder Zidane Iqbal of Utrecht; and left-back Merchas Doski of Viktoria Plzen.

These matches conclude Andorra's pre-Nations League schedule, set for September 24 to November 17. Koldo Álvarez de Eulate's side will play in League D, Group 1 alongside Gibraltar and Malta. Additional friendlies remain possible.

The Liechtenstein clash will mark the debut of Andorra's new Adidas kit, which has sparked online debate for resembling Spain's colours. Several users, including former international Ildefons Lima, have criticised on X the limited blue from Andorra's flag—particularly on the away shirt, where it appears only on the shoulders amid red and yellow front stripes.
