FC Andorra's Théo Le Normand Suffers Complete ACL Rupture, Out for Season

FC Andorra midfielder Théo Le Normand has suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, sidelining him for the remainder of this season and much of the next.

The 25-year-old Frenchman from Rennes picked up the injury in the 61st minute of Sunday's heavy win over UD Las Palmas at the Estadi de la FAF, moments after equalising to make it 1-1. Medical tests confirmed the full tear, with club officials stating he faces surgery in the coming days. Recovery time will then be set based on his post-operative progress, though such injuries typically demand six to 12 months of rehabilitation. One report estimated six to nine months.

Le Normand, younger brother of Atlético de Madrid defender Robin Le Normand, signed with FC Andorra from Union Sportive Avranches two seasons ago following loans at Guingamp—where he debuted in Ligue 2—and elsewhere. Last season, he excelled on loan at Terol, netting nine goals and three assists to secure promotion to Primera RFEF. This campaign, under coaches Ibai Gómez and Carles Manso within Gerard Piqué and Jaume Nogués' setup, he has featured in 31 Segunda División games and one Copa del Rey match, scoring five goals.

The injury struck at a career high, as he had been gaining prominence with recent form, including consecutive strikes. Teammate Álex Petxarromán, on loan from Deportivo de La Coruña and facing a return there at season's end, called such setbacks "the toughest for a footballer" but expressed faith in Le Normand's professionalism. "He'll come back stronger," Petxarromán said. He described the squad's current run as one of its best, urging focus on enjoyment despite fading play-off hopes.

Club messages have rallied around Le Normand during his extended absence. Forward Marc Bombardó, alias Bomba, sustained a pinched meniscus in the same match but appears set for a quicker return, with pain levels dictating his status for Sunday's 2pm trip to Riazor against Deportivo de La Coruña. Petxarromán, a right-back from San Sebastián who lost his starting spot to Thomas Carrique, reflected on his own tough year but noted his fondness for the Galician club.
