Hungarian Keeper Yaakobishvili Misses FC Andorra Finale for National Team Call-Up

Áron Yaakobishvili, the Hungarian goalkeeper known as Yaako, will miss FC Andorra's season finale against Burgos on Sunday at Estadio El Plantío due to a second consecutive call-up to Hungary's senior national team.

The 20-year-old Barcelona loanee, contracted until June 30, 2028, has not featured for the club since a 3-2 loss to Almería on February 13. He made 21 appearances overall, conceding 29 goals and securing three clean sheets before losing his place to Jesús Owono. Hungary selected him for upcoming friendlies against Finland on Friday at Puskás Aréna in Budapest and Kazakhstan next Tuesday at Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen. Although yet to debut internationally, the summons prevents him from training with FC Andorra this week.

In the club's most recent home outing against AD Ceuta, coach Gerard Piqué and assistant Jaume Nogués started Nico Ratti in goal, but he picked up an injury during play.

FC Andorra's sporting directorate, led by Jaume Nogués, has outlined plans for next season. The strategy focuses on retaining a core of 13 contracted players and adding around 10 new signings to build on the team's late-season form. Confirmed arrivals include international Aron Rodrigo on a three-year deal and 19-year-old Georgian left winger Saba Samushia, who will initially join affiliate Nàstic Manresa.

The club anticipates interest in key assets such as Cerdà (contracted to 2027), Villahermosa (to 2027) and Lautaro (to 2028), but insists on adhering to release clauses without undervaluing talent. Extensions remain possible for some. Among loanees, FC Andorra aims to renew deals for Owono (Alavés-owned) and Yaakobishvili. Among those out of contract, Théo Le Normand could extend despite a serious knee injury, while Martí Vilà will stay after meeting an appearances-based option; Manu Nieto appears set to depart.

Separately, L'Agora International School won the 2026 Students League with a 3-2 victory over Colegio María Moliner in the final at Col·legi Sant Ermengol. Now in its fourth edition—the second backed directly by FC Andorra—the football-7 tournament featured six schools: Agora, Lycée Comte de Foix, Escola Andorrana d’Encamp, Col·legi Sant Ermengol, Escola Andorrana d’Ordino and María Moliner. Organised by former FC Andorra youth player Pere Simonet, it drew over 300 participants, families and fans on the May 25 public holiday, emphasising youth development, rivalry and camaraderie.

Genís de Moner, from FC Andorra, praised the event's role in grassroots football for 15- to 18-year-olds, turning it into a festival with music, refreshments and giveaways like signed jerseys from captain Molina and Le Normand. Simonet noted challenges in scheduling around exams but highlighted its growth from informal origins at Prat del Roure to the current Sant Ermengol venue.
