Andorran Swimming Federation Eyes Growth After Small States Games Success

The Andorran Swimming Federation (FAN) aims to build on its athletes' achievements at the Small States Games in Andorra by expanding its membership base and enhancing grassroots development in the sport.

These priorities took centre stage at the federation's general assembly on Thursday, where delegates unanimously endorsed the board's management for 2025, approved the previous year's accounts, and greenlit the 2026 budget. FAN president Joan Clotet highlighted the organisation's ongoing progress during his speech, noting increases in registered members, events organised, and appeal among young people opting for swimming.

The assembly capped a strong year for Andorran swimming, with the Small States Games providing key international visibility. Leaders now seek to convert that spotlight into greater participation, especially from youth, while recognising the vital contributions of local clubs.

Clotet underscored the importance of ongoing club support to maintain momentum. Officials plan to widen the Esport-Estudi programme, reinforce youth pathways, and continue entries in Catalan and Spanish meets to foster talent progression.

The 2026 calendar features major challenges for elite swimmers, including the World Championships and European Championships. Longer-term preparations target the 2027 Small States Games in Monaco, alongside efforts to strengthen emerging areas like the federation's waterpolo section.
