Vicky Jiménez exited Wimbledon in the first round with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Spain's Sara Sorribes, who advanced to face Jessica Pegula in the next round.

The Andorran, ranked 111th in the WTA standings, entered the third Grand Slam of the season directly through her position. The match unfolded on Monday at 12:00, as planned after the draw on Friday.

Sorribes, now No. 252 and a former No. 32 in singles from 2022, dominated proceedings. A doubles specialist who claimed Olympic bronze in Paris 2024 with Cristina Bucșa, she exploited Jiménez's serve inconsistencies. In the opening set, Sorribes broke twice after Jiménez held the first service game, securing a 6-2 edge. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Jiménez dropping serve twice but managing one break to lead 3-2 briefly. Sorribes then regained control in crucial moments to win 6-3.

This result echoed their earlier clash in the round of 16 at the WTA 125 in Makarska in early June, where Sorribes won 6-1, 6-1 in under an hour. Jiménez had carried optimism into London following a semi-final run at the WTA 125 in Modena two weeks earlier. There, she defeated Italy's Jessica Pieri (No. 284), American Varvara Lepchenko (No. 175), and Spain's Leyre Romero (No. 142) before losing to Poland's Katarzyna Kawa (No. 121), the tournament winner.

Sorribes now meets No. 4 Jessica Pegula, who beat Czech Darja Vidmanová 7-5, 6-3 in the first round. Pegula, a consistent performer who reached No. 3 in 2023, awaits in the second round.
