FC Andorra Signs Hugo Solozábal from Getafe B on Free Transfer

FC Andorra has confirmed the signing of 23-year-old midfielder Hugo Solozábal from Getafe B on a free transfer, with the player set to join for the next three seasons ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Madrid native, born in February 2003 and trained in Atlético Madrid's youth ranks, becomes the club's second reinforcement for the upcoming term, after international Aron Rodrigo. Georgian forward Saba Samushia will instead play for Nàstic de Manresa. The deal, first reported by journalist Ángel García, has now been officially closed, as confirmed by the club and local outlets.

Solozábal is the son of Roberto Solozábal, the former Atlético Madrid centre-back who won a double in the 1990s and an Olympic gold medal at Barcelona 1992 before finishing his career at Real Betis. The youngster moved from Atlético's youth setup to Las Rozas in 2022-23, then Leganés B until 2025, joining Getafe B last summer. Under coach Manu del Moral in Segunda RFEF Group 5, he featured in 30 matches, scored six goals and helped secure a promotion playoff spot.

He also made three senior appearances for Getafe: a La Liga substitute outing against Villarreal—where he played 10 minutes—a Copa del Rey tie at Navalcarnero and another against Burgos. Mid-season arrivals pushed him back to the reserves, but he maintained strong form there.

A left-footed midfielder with a knack for arriving in the box, Solozábal fits FC Andorra's model of investing in promising young talent.

In related squad news, the club announced the departure of forward Manu Nieto on Wednesday after five years, 124 appearances, 28 goals and eight assists, including loans at Eldense and half a season at Elche.

Director of football Jaume Nogués faces challenges recalling loanees from last season. Alavés plans to keep goalkeeper Jesús Owono, while Girona has summoned Minsu Kim and Jastin to preseason, closing doors to returns. The club will now seek wide options in an emerging market.

Preseason fixtures include matches on 14 and 18 July at Pinatar Arena against Millwall and Stevenage, plus a 6 August friendly at Zaragoza's sports city—reuniting the Tricolors with former coach Ibai Gómez.
