Hugo Solozabal, FC Andorra's latest confirmed summer signing, views his transfer to the club as a "unique opportunity" to further his development as a midfielder.

The 22-year-old Madrid native, son of former Atlético Madrid and Spain defender Roberto Solozábal—who retired in 1999 after a stint at Real Betis—spoke to the club's official media about his excitement over the move. This marks his first professional experience away from the Spanish capital, where he came through Atlético's youth ranks. "It's thrilling to get a call from a team of this calibre—I didn't hesitate," he said, adding that he asked few questions upon receiving the offer.

Solozabal described himself as a highly mobile midfielder who covers plenty of ground, aiming to contribute in both offensive and defensive phases. "I like being important in both penalty areas: I have good arrivals and have been fortunate to score a lot of goals in recent seasons," he explained. He also enjoys defensive work but seeks to improve his link-up play, quicker turns, and ball distribution. He prefers playing as an interior alongside a holding midfielder, which allows him to push into the box. Solozabal believes this fits FC Andorra's advanced, high-positioning style perfectly.

His career path includes nearly his entire youth development at Atlético Madrid, followed by spells at Las Rozas and Leganés B—where he debuted for the first team—and Getafe B, with whom he also made a senior appearance. He has prior experience in Spain's top flight with Getafe and played in the Copa del Rey for Leganés.

Solozabal expressed enthusiasm about life in Andorra, a place he has visited on family ski holidays and vacations. He welcomed the chance to live in a new country, noting his fondness for the Principality.

Separately, FC Andorra announced the transfer of Juanda Fuentes to Portuguese side Penafiel this weekend, retaining 40% of any future sale.
