Andorran cross-country skier Gina del Rio has begun her pre-season with the first of two fitness assessment sessions on a rollerski treadmill, supervised by Xabier del Val, director of the Andorran Ski Federation's (FAE) cross-country section, and physiologist Álvaro Rancé.
The tests, held today with a follow-up tomorrow, aim to gauge her current fitness levels and inform upcoming training adjustments. They serve as preparation for a 10-day ski camp in Tignes, France, starting 10 June, after which she will return to Andorra for three weeks of rollerski training in Font Romeu during the first three weeks of July.
Meanwhile, FAE reports confirm that teammate Irineu Esteve remains in recovery from injury.
