FC Andorra bolsters squad with signings of Andoni López and Pau López to add leadership depth

FC Andorra has reinforced its young roster with two experienced additions: defender Andoni López and goalkeeper Pau López. Both players, announced as summer signings, aim to bring maturity and stability to the Tricolors' developing team ahead of a demanding league campaign.

Andoni López, a 32-year-old Basque left-back, joined in early July after three seasons at Ponferradina. A product of Athletic Club's Lezama academy, his career also includes stints at Almería, Elche, Logroñés, Amorebieta, Tenerife, and Lugo. In discussions with general manager Jaume Nogués, the club highlighted its need for seasoned players amid a low average squad age rooted in youth development. López welcomed the challenge, noting it aligned with his signing purpose.

He chose Andorra over other offers, citing the project's appeal from the outset. Having faced the team as an opponent and analyzed its style, López believes he can slot in effectively. The 32-year-old described himself as an attacking full-back with dynamism, intensity, strong running, and a solid shot, complementing the use of wingers to widen play. Previous visits to Andorra and talks with ex-teammates familiarized him with the setup. His goals include immediate competitiveness, consistent performances, and building on last season's gains to secure as many victories as possible.

Goalkeeper Pau López, 31, from Girona and formerly of Real Betis, represents the club's most prominent summer acquisition on a three-year deal with an optional fourth. He debuted in a friendly against Nàstic de Tarragona on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win. Speaking to club channels, the keeper expressed enthusiasm for joining a rising side and contributing his experience. He emphasized providing calm and security, positioning himself as an organizer who instills confidence in a youthful group.

Pau López's move carried personal appeal, including Andorra's natural surroundings, quality of life, multicultural environment, and proximity for his family.
