Andorra's national golf team is set to compete in the European Team Shield Championship at Malta's Royal Malta Golf Club from July 29 to August 1.
Led by selector José Manuel Lara, the squad features Eduard Tor in his sixth call-up, Èric Galimany with his fifth, Thomas Blazy on his second outing, and debutant Hugo Fernández. Lara called the tournament a "major challenge" and described the lineup as "well-balanced," blending long hitters with precise, straight-shooting players. He added that Andorra can no longer catch opponents off guard following solid performances in previous editions.
The event at the island's sole 18-hole course, founded in 1888, will pit 14 men's teams against one another: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey.
Andorran Golf Federation president Gabriel Guerrero commended the federation's steady, structured progress under Lara's technical direction. He cautioned that prior achievements should not create extra pressure, encouraging the team to "give everything and defend Andorra with pride."
