Hugo Solozábal Signs Two-Year Deal with FC Andorra from Getafe B

Hugo Solozábal, the 23-year-old Madrid-born midfielder and son of former Atlético Madrid champion Roberto Solozábal, has joined FC Andorra from Getafe B on a two-year contract ahead of the 2026-27 Segunda División season.

The versatile player, who made a brief first-team debut in La Liga with Getafe, was presented on Monday at Nou Estadi de la FAF in Encamp following the team's preseason stint in San Pedro del Pinatar. He described the move from Segunda RFEF to the professional Lliga Hypermotion as a significant opportunity and challenge he intends to seize fully.

Solozábal called the switch to the tricolour club a calculated risk but expressed strong belief that Andorra offers an ideal environment to shine. He praised the club's commitment to young talent and player development, factors that influenced his choice. On the pitch, he said he feels most comfortable as an interior in a 4-3-3 system, though he can also play as a central midfielder in a double pivot.

During the press conference, the multi-positional option noted positive integration through early training and friendlies. He referenced prior sessions with Getafe's senior squad under José Bordalás as useful preparation and drew encouragement from talks with his father, who endorsed the project's alignment with his strengths.

The signing marks the first for FC Andorra's new initiative, unveiled the day before his presentation. Solozábal voiced optimism about the squad's formation, highlighting collective drive to compete strongly and the benefits of internal rivalry with the season still weeks out.
