The Comú de la Massana opened a new public space in the Torropuis area of Anyós on Friday, timed with the Festa Major d'Anyós festivities. The €1.2 million development features a multi-sports court with basketball hoops and football goals, a 24-space car park, two drinking fountains, and a small landscaped zone.
Cònsols major Eva Sansa and menor Roger Fité led the ribbon-cutting, joined by the standard-bearer of the Quart d'Anyós and councillors Kevin Poulet for Works and Bet Rossell for Education, Youth and Sports. Following the ceremony, local officials and a group of children played a short football match on the court.
Fité said the name Torropuis honours the historical term for the area's former plots, helping maintain local identity. The land came from an earlier urban planning transfer, he added, and the project addresses residents' needs for more parking and a safe play area. "The youngest children had no secure spot to play until now," Fité stated, noting that the protective netting will shield parked vehicles from stray shots.
The facilities primarily target children and youth while boosting parking in the parish. The Festa Major proceeded with a mass for Sant Cristòfol, Anyós's patron saint and protector of drivers, along with the traditional vehicle blessing. Festivities are set to continue throughout the week.
