MoraBanc Andorra confirms Stan Okoye's departure after three seasons, eyes James Akinjo as replacement
MoraBanc Andorra has parted ways with forward Stan Okoye by mutual agreement, ending his three-year stint with one year left on his contract. The club announced the move on Thursday as it continues reshaping its roster for the upcoming season.
The US-Nigerian player from North Carolina, who arrived from Casademont Zaragoza, played 90 official matches for the Tricolors: 85 in Liga Endesa, three in the Catalan League and two in the Basketball Champions League. His ACB games included 23 in 2023-2024, 34 in 2024-2025 and 28 in the 2025-2026 season. In his final Liga Endesa campaign, Okoye posted averages of 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, one assist and 7.6 valuation credits in 21 minutes per game. He shot 64.9% on two-pointers, 30.9% from three-point range and 81.8% on free throws.
Club records rank him 16th in all-time ACB appearances for MoraBanc and 10th in three-pointers made, with 110.
In a statement, the club expressed thanks for Okoye's commitment and effort over the three seasons, adding: "We wish him the best in his professional and personal future. Thanks for everything, Stan!"
This marks the sixth departure this off-season, including Shannon Evans (whose move to Promitheas Patras was announced by his new club but not yet by MoraBanc), Oriol Pons and David Guerrero.
Meanwhile, the sporting director has targeted James Akinjo as a potential addition. The 25-year-old, 1.85m point guard from Oakland brings playmaking skills and scoring ability. He shone at Georgetown, Arizona and Baylor in the NCAA, earning third-team All-American honours and first-team Big 12 selection in his final year. Undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, he trained with New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets affiliates before establishing himself in the G League. Akinjo moved to Europe in April, playing the end of the season with Ironi Nes Ziona in Israel before becoming a free agent.
