Andorran tennis player Vicky Jiménez Kasintseva retired from her opening-round match at the Hamburg Open against Germany's Tamara Korpatsch due to injury.
The 19-year-old claimed the first set 6-4 on clay, displaying solid play and taking the initiative against the local player, ranked No. 75 in the world. Jiménez Kasintseva led 3-1 in the second set, but Korpatsch mounted a comeback to win it 7-5 and force a decider. With the German up 1-0 in the third and Jiménez Kasintseva serving, the Andorran withdrew in tears.
Her father, Joan Jiménez, said the match ended because she could no longer run, pointing to an Achilles tendon problem.
