Josep Cerdà Arrives in Palma for Mallorca Medical in €2M+ Andorra Transfer

Josep Cerdà has transferred from FC Andorra to RCD Mallorca in a €2.5 million deal that includes 10% of any future sale, setting a record for the highest fee received by the Andorran club.

The 23-year-old Balearic winger, who arrived from Ponferradina in summer 2024, played 66 matches for FC Andorra across two seasons, scoring 19 goals. He proved vital in the club's promotion to Segunda División and added 10 goals in 23 appearances during a strong second half of last season's silver category campaign, despite an early injury setback.

Cerdà bid farewell to FC Andorra on social media, describing his time there as "a very special stage where I always felt at home" and thanking everyone involved for their support and trust from day one. He wished the club success this season.

The move follows Club Brujas triggering Jan Virgili's €12 million release clause, providing FC Andorra with funds to negotiate beyond Mallorca's initial €1 million bid. The agreement exceeds Cerdà's €5 million release clause, under which he would have become a free agent next summer. Mallorca, who dropped to Segunda last season, see the island native as central to their promotion push. Cerdà arrived in Palma on Thursday for his medical.

FC Andorra confirmed the signing of Romanian international Enes Sali on Friday as Cerdà's replacement. The 20-year-old Canadian-born winger, capable of playing both flanks or as an attacking midfielder, joins from FC Dallas in the US league for this season with options for two more. The club acquired 50% of his economic rights. Sali debuted professionally at 15 and became the youngest goalscorer in Romania's top flight.

Separately, FC Andorra suffered a 4-0 preseason loss to Huesca on Friday, their second match in under 24 hours. Diego Gómez scored early, Luismi added a second after halftime, Solozábal netted an own goal, and Pablo Osán converted a late penalty awarded against Uzkudun. The team rests over the weekend before preparing for their league opener on Monday.

FC Andorra have also shown interest in loaning Barcelona B's Guille Fernández, linked with Sabadell, and a potential return for Julen Lobete, currently sidelined at Málaga. Despite a recent friendly injury against FC Europa at Estadi Comunal, Cerdà is due to recover fully within two weeks.
