MoraBanc Andorra Packs 700 Fans at Annual Street Party Preseason Bash

Nearly 700 people gathered on Avinguda Meritxell in Andorra la Vella on Saturday for the MoraBanc Andorra basketball club's annual Street Party, a preseason showcase of its teams one week before the senior squad's Lliga Endesa opener against Monbus Obradoiro at the Bombonera on September 26 at 19:30.

Held in front of the club's banking sponsor's offices, the event opened with contests and activities featuring first-team players including Jaylen Iwundu, Chumi Ortega, Leon Radosevic, Luka Bottiroli, Artem Pustovyi, and James Akinjo. Fans tried—and failed—to match captain Rafa Luz's 25-metre triple from last season against Bàsquet Girona, with Kyle Kuric among those taking unsuccessful shots.

All 21 club teams then took the stage, from mini categories to junior, senior women's, senior B, and special needs groups, representing close to 350 young athletes. Club president Gorka Aixàs called the youth foundation the organisation's "heart," vital to its identity and a key draw for talent thanks to the first team's ACB status.

The senior roster followed, with players addressing the crowd in Catalan. New arrivals Pustovyi and Ortega tested the language, while Kuric quipped, "Viva Catalunya... and viva Andorra." Veterans like Aaron Best vowed "mai por" for the season, and Americans including Dwayne McGriff, James Robertson, and Iwundu added high energy. Radosevic and Luz, who drew the biggest cheers, urged fans to fill the arena and emphasised team-fan unity amid coming challenges.

Coach Žan Tabak wrapped up the presentations, thanking supporters for sticking by the team through last season's struggles and pledging to channel that backing on court. Aixàs noted improved fitness from preseason training, targeting faster play, stronger defence, and greater intensity—though Luz promised to rein in the pace when needed.

Music from Magic Gleam, DJ Tite, and Brut, plus tricolour merchandise, kept spirits high. The afternoon closed with a group photo of youth players, seniors, staff, and cheerleaders.
